Note: The Borders Affiliate program has ended (thank the current American economy for that one), so these links need to be updated to work right. Please be patient while I fix them (this stuff still can be found though). These CD's feature actors who were on Mathnet at one point or another. It's a great way to get an idea of just how versatile some of these guys are! They are all definite ear candy! NOTE: Many CD's here have a few Real Audio demo clips to listen to before buying. I recommend you sample them all before you buy them, but am sure you won't be disappointed! Just click the 'more info' text to get to the sample and pricing page for that title. Enjoy! Voice(s) you'll recognize: Betty Buckley (Sally Storm, 'The Case of the Mystery Weekend') as Grizzabella Reason(s) I liked it: It's Cats. What's not to like? Betty is famous for her performance of 'Memory' and nobody can top it! You can't go wrong with this one!
Stars/Principal Actors: Gerard Alessandrini, Toni DiBuono, Roxie Lucas, John Freedson, Michael McGrath, Phillip George, Karen Murphy, Dorothy Kiara, Linda Strasser, Kevin Ligon, William Selby. Voice(s) you'll recognize: Toni DiBuono (Pat!); Michael McGrath (Barney Oldmeal, 'The Case of the Parking Meter Massacre') both singing various roles Reason(s) I liked it: This is one heckuva outrageous Broadway-spoofing little ditty! I kvell for it, and each additional playing makes me love it more! Toni has a strong singing ability, as does her hubby, Michael. My guess is doing this show was probably how they met. (I could be wrong, I suppose.) Anyway, if you like Broadway, you have to hear this CD!
Stars/Principal Actors: Matthew Broderick ("Bueller..."), Megan Mullally, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Jonathan Freeman, Victoria Clark, Luba Mason, Gerry Vichi, Lillias White, Ronn Carroll, Walter Cronkite. Voice(s) you'll recognize: Jonathan Freeman (Jonathan the Director, 'The Case of the Unkidnapping') as Bert Bratt; Gerry Vichi (Wally Wallaby, 'The Case of the Mystery Weekend') as Twimble Reason(s) I liked it: This is a great CD with neato songs and superb performances! Matthew Broderick is a surprisingly talented singer (though I always have and always will see him as Ferris Bueller), and well, this is an upbeat, be-boppin' kinda show! You'll enjoy Jonathan and Gerry's terrific singing as well. Get this one!
Stars/Principal Actors: Martin Short, Faith Prince, Ruth Williamson, Andrea Chamberlain, Michael McGrath. Voice(s) you'll recognize: Michael McGrath (Barney Oldmeal, 'The Case of the Parking Meter Massacre') as Bruce, and other smaller parts Reason(s) I liked it: This is a funny musical, and it got rave reviews on B'way. It is easy to see why; the songs are hilarious and witty, and these guys are good! Martin Short is a panic as always, and Michael (who also understudied Martin's roles) has an awesome singing voice; I dunno how to describe it. You just have to hear it. Anyway, this is just an all-around fun CD! You simply can't miss this one!
Stars/Principal Actors: Debbie Gravitte, Davis Gaines, Mario Cantone, Michael McGrath, Malcolm Gets, Rebecca Luker Voice(s) you'll recognize: Michael McGrath (Barney Oldmeal, 'The Case of the Parking Meter Massacre') Reason(s) I liked it: I haven't heard all of this one yet. I'll update this as soon as I do!
Stars/Principal Actors: Rebecca Luker, Daisy Eagan, Peter Marinos, Patricia Phillips, Kay Walbye, Michael De Vries, Drew Taylor, Paul Jackel, Peter Samuel, Rebecca Judd, Nancy Johnston, Mandy Patinkin, Robert Westenberg, Barbara Rosenblat, Alison Fraser, John Cameron Mitchell, Tom Toner, John Babcock, Laurie Gayle Stephenson, Frank DiPasquale Voice(s) you'll recognize: Daisy Eagan (Emmy Kelly, 'The Case of the Piggy Banker') as Mary Lenox Reason(s) I liked it: I haven't heard all of this one yet, but the bits I've heard are really good! I do know, though, that Daisy won a Tony for her performance in it (at the tender age of 12, at that). No wonder they cast her on Mathnet! I will definitely get this one, and suggest you do too! The story is a great one, too, as some of you may have read and or seen before. |
